Synthetized inertial measurement units (IMUs) to evaluate the placement of wearable sensors on human body for motion recognition

چکیده
Movement data from athletes are useful to quantify performance or more specifically the workload. Inertial measurement units (IMUs) sensors body movements. Sensor placement on human is still an open question that this paper focuses on. A method develops synthesized inertial proposed for determining optimal placement. Comparison between virtual and real achieved. Training motion recognition algorithm exhibits less than 7% difference. This highlights ability of numerical model determine relevant sensor IMUs using sensors.

Analysis of human movement is a growing research area within the field of sport monitoring which aims to enhance the performance of athletes, predicting injuries or optimizing training programs. Camera-based techniques are the most spread method to evaluate although frequently this method can be cumbersome and, furthermore, specific movements where performance is analyzed are not possible to di...
متن کاملA Real-time Motion Tracking Wireless System for Upper Limb Exosuit Based on Inertial Measurement Units and Flex Sensors (TECHNICAL NOTE)
This paper puts forward a real-time angular tracking (motion capture) system for a low cost upper limb exosuit based on sensor fusion; which is integrated by an elastic sleeve-mitten, two inertial measurement units (IMU), two flex sensors and a wireless communication system. The device can accurately detect the angular position of the shoulder (flexion-extension, abduction-adduction and interna...
متن کاملRecognition of Low Amplitude Body Vibrations via Inertial Sensors for Wearable Computing
Pathological shaking of the body or extremities is widely known and might occur at chronic diseases e.g. Parkinson. The rhythmical shaking, also known as tremor, can be such intense that extremities are flapping. Under certain circumstances, healthy people also show a shivering and shaking of their body. For example, humans start to shiver whenever it is too cold or if feelings such as stress o...
متن کاملClassification of deadlift biomechanics with wearable inertial measurement units.
The deadlift is a compound full-body exercise that is fundamental in resistance training, rehabilitation programs and powerlifting competitions. Accurate quantification of deadlift biomechanics is important to reduce the risk of injury and ensure training and rehabilitation goals are achieved. This study sought to develop and evaluate deadlift exercise technique classification systems utilising...
متن کاملAnalysis of Indoor Rowing Motion using Wearable Inertial Sensors
In this exploratory work the motion of rowers is analyzed while rowing on a rowing machine. This is performed using inertial sensors that measure the orientation at several positions on the body. Using these measurements, this work provides a preliminary analysis of the differences between experienced and novice rowers, or between a good and a bad technique. The analysis shows that the measured...
